I am Charo Chengo Birya one of the MTG drivers. I joined MTG as a staff in 2016. I hold a driving license as well as did drivers Grade test and obtained Grade three. I was trained on basic knowledge on First Aid and Fire fighter.
I sat for my KCPE in 1986 and later joined a driving course in Glory driving school and obtained my certificate in 1991. I have 25 years’ experience in driving. My first employment was at Mtondia Medical clinic after which I joined GTZ (German Technical project).
Later I was employed at K.D.D.P (Kilifi District Development Program me) and later joined SOLWOD (Solidarity with women in distress). I worked in SOLWOD for a period of 2 years and then I APHII USAID (Family Heath International). I worked at the University of Nairobi as a driver for four years. In 2011, I joined MTG as a part time driver then left for ACTIONAID. I worked for four years after which I came back to MTG as a full staff in 2016 up to date.
In MTG, I was privileged to participate in the child protection training.
What I love most in MTG is the way the organization involves girls and young women as early as 9 years and furthermore, working with the most interior parts of the less advantaged communities in Kilifi and Kwale counties.
